Fundraising Events & Case Expenditure

BHAI KANHAIYA HUMANITARIAN AID CHARITY BIKE RIDE IN EAST LONDON (AUGUST 2021)

On August 8th, 2021 we successfully had our first fundraising event which was a charitable bike ride (18 miles) for the local community, to help raise funds towards two humanitarian projects, that we have planned to commit towards improving the environment in Panjab.

We successfully fundraised a total of £1,036.00 which was raised by the public through sponsors.

Over 2022/23 Bhai Kanhaiya Humanitarian Aid plans to fundraise a total of £20,000 towards two humanitarian projects in Panjab:

1) Ecology project to plant more trees in Panjab. In the past decades, Panjab has been predicted to be turning into a dryland as there has been lack of investment towards its economy, education, groundwater shortage etc. We aim to plant more trees to provide fresh clean air for the communities living in Panjab and also look towards planting trees that have deep roots as they are able to collect more groundwater.

2) Education project to start Sikhi Parchaar in villages to help vulnerable children learn their Sikhi faith. Local communities face lack of resources and funds to go to schools. We hope this project will be able to benefit our new generation of Sikh children with hiring teachers who are able to spread Sikhi and teach them the lives of the Sikh Guru’s and the concept of selfless service.

2nd ANNUAL BHAI KANHAIYA HUMANITARIAN AID CHARITY BIKE RIDE IN EAST LONDON (July 2022)

On July 31st, 2022 we had our 2nd charity fundraising event which was a charitable bike ride (18 miles). The event was a success as the local community was once again engaged to help raise funds towards our charity’s goals to help our Panjab cases abroad.

We successfully fundraised a total of £625.00.

As we a small non profit organisation, our funds raised will go towards our current and new cases to support Panjabi families in need. Our work includes; supporting poor families who need urgent repairs in their properties, victims of human rights abuse and human trafficking.

CASE OF BALVINDER SINGH (AUGUST 2021)

Balvinder Singh was involved in a motorcycle collision in Panjab, India. His legs were left in critical condition and needed emergency medical care to avoid further infections. He comes from a poor family and they were not able to afford payments for the treatment needed.

We supported the family financially and morally raising funds and making sure it has been tracked and sent to the family and medical centre to treat Balvinder. His daughter reached out to our organisation through mutual sangat (community members) in Panjab.
Funds raised for skin graft surgery treatment: £120.00
Amount required for treatment delivered: £100.00 / 9,826.52 INR
Balance remaining: £20.00 left
Balance remaining will be used for further cases.

CASE OF GURDEV SINGH (SEPTEMBER 2021)

Gurdev Singh (42) from Tarn Taran district, Panjab had suffered a serious leg injury affecting his mobility and causing him pain. His leg injury soon suffered with an infection which spread and he was at risk of amputation if he hadn’t received treatment in time.

Bhai Kanhaiya Humanitarian Aid has helped towards his medical costs for Gurdev’s treatment. Gurdev was offered skin graft surgery by doctors to treat his infection.

Due to the nature of the surgery and Gurdev’s heart beat being slower than normal, there was a small chance a complication would occur with Gurdev so the doctors requested Gurdev to have a next of kin sign a document so they would not be responsible if complications occur with his health. We had received a phone call from one of our colleagues in Panjab requesting us to sign this document regarding his skin graft surgery. We had advised him we cannot do so as we are not his family and to ask Gurdev’s next of kin. Gurdev reached out to his family and to our knowledge they had refused to sign the documents. Gurdev left the hospital without notifying us so therefore we are no longer supporting him in his case.

Funds raised for hospital appointments which included the following services for Gurdev Singh; Lab charges, X-Ray scans, Echo Stress and ECG tests, OPD fees.
Amount delivered: 37,700 INR

CASE OF MEHAL SINGH (OCTOBER 2021)

Mehal Singh (60) from Tarn Taran district, Panjab is a patient who currently has a severe eye issue ongoing. He is at risk of losing his eye sight completely, as he already has a loss of partial vision. His son had reached out to us in October 2021, as they couldn’t afford hospital tests and scans to diagnose his condition. The opticians recommended Mehal Singh to have a MRI scan. We at Bhai Kanhaiya Humanitarian Aid helped them with the costs to cover the MRI scan.

After further examinations and scans, it appears Mehal Singh has a blockage in his brain which is causing tension on his eyes and affecting his vision.

Funds raised for MRI scan and further treatments: £120.00
Amount required for treatment delivered: £80.00 / 7,717.76 INR

We regret to inform that on 13th February, Mr Mehal Singh had passed away due to a heart attack and we are currently supporting the family through this difficult time and with the funeral costs

Balance remaining: £40.00 left
Balance remaining will be used for further cases.
CASE OF Amarjit Kaur (OCTOBER 2021)

We are currently fundraising for emergency property repairs/refurbishment for a poor family in Panjab, India. The family’s current property has been damaged over the years and they have no kitchen or toilet facilities. Due to rainfall their property grounds have been vulnerable to flooding which they are then forced to seek shelter with neighbours.

We had set up a GoFundMe page over the past few months for members of the public to donate to help towards this case. Our team in Panjab conducted checks to see the work involved and how big of a project it will be. Over winter 2021 raised £1,256.31 on our GoFundMe Page with further donations occurring.

Building work commenced on 9th February 2022.
After further examinations and scans, it appears Mehal Singh has a blockage in his brain which is causing tension on his eyes and affecting his vision.

Our team their conducting and supervising the building work liaises with us and informs us of what material is needed and how much they have left of payments we have sent. Every payment and purchase is accounted for as we look at receipts before sending additional funds.

Funds sent as of April 2022: £1,350.00 sent towards building material and labour
